Community Service and Volunteers Hours

Involvement in community service projects is an important component of the JROTC program.  Each year the JROTC program participates in a wide variety of community service projects designed to increase student engagement and awareness and strengthen the bonds that exist between the school and the community.  All Cadets enrolled in the JROTC program are required to participate in community service activities and are encouraged to devote a minimum of 100 hours of community service each academic year.

The Winston Churchill High School JROTC program works closely with the high school's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as members of the Presidents Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) program.  The PVSA recognizes, celebrates, and inspires community service leaders and volunteers to lead the effort in improving our communities and the lives of others.  The goal of the PVSA is to encourage more individuals to embody the spirit of volunteerism that makes the country the greatest on earth.

The PVSA was started by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation in 2003 as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by example, inspired others to engage in volunteer service.  The Council no longer exists, but the program continues as an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Register and Record your Volunteer Hours

Volunteers must sign up and register with the PVSA program.  Once registered you will have the ability to track your hours and service for the organizatinos with which you volunteer.  It is fun to watch your hours grow towards each milestone award.  You will be provided with a special record of service (ROS) key that is associated with the Winston Churchill High School JROTC and PTA.  The school PTA will approve your volunteer hours and oversee the PVSA awards at the end of each school year.  Before you can participate in the PVSA program you must first register on the PVSA website.  When registering, please be sure to use the unique school code/key, listed below the registration link:
